Screen Gems: Resident Evil (Series) Marketing

Resident Evil: Retribution - Yet to be released. Current budget 90 million dollars and currently in production; distribution by Screen Gems. Directed, written and produced by Paul W.S Anderson (Who has worked on all previous Resident Evil movies)



Resident Evil: Afterlife was the first in the film series to use IMax and 3D technology, using the fusion camera system developed my James Cameron for his movie "Avatar" and behind this technology, this fourth in the film series got the highest profit so far.


Marketing

Resident Evil - In march 2001 the official website was released online, in July 2001 the website was fully unlocked and featured images, plot information, character biographies and computer downloads. In December of the same year, a competition was announced for fans to design the movie poster to have a chance at it being the chosen design and used as the official movies poster.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse - Late 2003, the teaser trailer for the movie was leaked, titled "Regenerate" and took on the basic form of a TV advertisement and was originally viewed as such, becoming popular and can still be viewed online on sites like Youtube.



Around the same time, Milla Jovovich (The actress who plays the main character of the whole movie series, Alice) official website released several promotional images of her character.

Resident Evil: Extinction - A teaser trailer for this movie was released with the movie "Ghost Rider" an official website was created online in February 2007, a teaser poster was also leaked onto a fansite in may 2007 too. MySpace also uploaded different images of characters from the movie.
